Status of the site

So, what’s up? Well, flickr is blocking us, again, for one of the following reasons: we are displaying ads, we are linking to sites with ads, we’re showing more than 15 photos per page.

According to them, it’s not fair that they provide storage and bandwith if other people are making money from it. It’s completelly understandable and fair. Though, of course, this isn’t a business, and we’re not making any money out of this. It started as a hobby, it still is a hobby, and I think now it is a service for a lot of “readers” (or should I say viewers? ). So, we’ve just deleted everything that could go against flickr’s rules, and we are waiting for an answer to see if they’ll let us continue.

It’s a shame, because I’ve been working to set up more stuff (ratings, view by author, more rss feeds, etc) and playing with the flickr api, but this is discouraging. At any point, for whatever reason, they can block the site again. So, next version is going to be simpler, sadly.

For people viewing flickrbabes from rss, yes, it is working fine, because what they are doing is to block every request from flickrbabes.blogspot.com. If they’d want the rss blocked, my guess is they’d have to block bloglines, rojo, and every other rss reader. It’d be impossible.

So, dear audience, there’s nothing I can do but wait. If you have any suggestions, you can either leave a comment in the blog, the shoutbox (right side of the blog) or email to fbabes at gmail.com

I am possitively sure this is just temporary, if it isn’t we’ll find the way to continue delivering the content via rss.

Now, some shameless advertising you know, this site totally depends on good looking women. Women are beautiful! unfortunately there are some that have that awful problem for which we haven’t found a cure (no, I’m not talking about the addiction to buy clothes and shoes, I’m talking about cancer)…so, be supportive, and donate some money to any organization that helps fight this disease. I’m just going to put the link to the google searh: link. Choose one organization, offer some cash, and you’ll be happy you’ve done something good.

Now, we have to pray that with that kind of advertisement flickr won’t get mad and block us even more, you know, as we are making somebody earn some money.
